Audi RS6 2025. With only five years left until the last combustion-engined Audi is introduced, the Audi Sport performance division is diving headfirst into the world of electric vehicles, with a 500kW-plus Audi RS6 E-Tron Avant super-wagon possibly serving as the flagship of the new zero-emissions lineup.

Audi executives have hinted at the arrival of a future RS6 in recent months, as a high-performance spin-off from the upcoming 2023 A6 E-Tron electric sedan, based on Audi and Porsche’s co-developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture for electric vehicles. This exclusive rendering was created by digital artist @avarvarii.

Audi communications spokesperson Josef Schlossmacher suggested to Australian and Asian media at the virtual reveal of the Grandsphere concept that a closely related version of the PPE-based show car’s 530kW/960Nm dual-motor powertrain will make its way into future production cars based on the new electric platform.

“We are discussing PPE as the next generation of electric drivetrains and electric platforms… [The platform will underpin automobiles] from the B, the middle-class [mid-size] category to the D, the top [full-size ‘upper large’ luxury segment] like this gorgeous car.

“I cannot precisely say whether a production car will have a 530 kW version, 520 kW version, or 540 kW version. However, something similar is the future, particularly for the D class.”

While Schlossmacher did not specifically mention the RS6 as a beneficiary of the high-output drivetrain. Audi executives have already expressed interest in an electric RS6. With technical heads telling Australian media in April that such a model is feasible and on their wish list.

And with the same executives revealing that the first sketches for a long-roof Avant wagon variant of the future A6 E-Tron have been prepared. Albeit whether production is authorized depends on customer demand – the arrival of a dual-motor. 30kW RS6 E-Tron Avant appears to be a safe bet.

Using the Grandsphere’s mechanicals as a guide, a potential zero-emissions RS6 would employ its 530kW/960Nm dual-motor setup for a 0-100km/h sprint time. Beginning with the number three, and a zero-emissions driving range of over 600km. Courtesy of a 120kWh battery mounted beneath the vehicle’s floor.

Given the road car’s sportier tires and less aerodynamic design, this is a decrease from the show car’s 750km.

The current gasoline-powered RS6 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. That sends 441kW and 800Nm to all four wheels for a 0-100km/h sprint of 3.6 seconds.

The RS6 E-Tron Avant would serve as the flagship model in Audi Sport’s transition towards electrification. With the brand recently committing to have plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles account for over 50 percent of its RS lineup “as early as” 2024. Increasing to 80 percent by 2026, and 100 percent by 2030.

In an internal interview earlier this year, Rolf Michl, the head of sales and marketing for Audi Sport, stated, “The RS6 Avant, RS7 Sportback, and RS Q8 combine potent 4.0-liter V8 biturbo TFSI engines with 48-volt mild hybrid systems… Future model generations will include high-performance plug-in hybrids and all-electric powertrains to the RS lineup.”

The release date of a prospective electric RS6 has not been determined. Nevertheless, given that the current V8-powered RS6 was unveiled roughly 18 months after its normal A6 Avant sibling, and that the new A6 E-Tron sedan will debut in the first half of 2023, anticipate the 2025 Audi RS6 E-Tron Avant to debut in late 2024, followed by a 2025 global debut.

Audi RS6 2025 Updates

The company has officially revealed Performance versions of the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback, and they get more power and more kit than the original cars.

These alternatives to the Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate and BMW M8 Gran Coupe are on sale in December with starting costs of £112,650 and £116,305 for the RS6 and RS7, respectively.

The new Audi RS6 Avant and Audi RS7 Sportback Performance come with crucial differences to distinguish them automobiles apart from the basic variants.

Both automobiles are offered in a selection of new paint schemes, including matte blue and matte silver. You can even have a scattering of extra carbon-fibre trim on the mirrors and front spoiler.

Also unique to the performance edition are the 22-inch Y-shaped alloy wheels, which are lighter than those on the ordinary cars and allow for improved cooling of the brakes.

On higher trim levels, forged 22-inch wheels are available, which save 5kg each corner.

Under the hood of the new Audi RS6 2025 Avant and RS7 Sportback Performance is the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine as before, but with a few performance-oriented modifications.

Changes include larger turbos with increased boost pressure, resulting in 630 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. This is 30 horsepower and 50 Nm more than regular automobiles.

More power translates to a quicker acceleration. Both the RS6 and RS7 can accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in 3.4 seconds. This is two-tenths of a second faster than ordinary vehicles.

These Performance models are on a performance-enhancing diet. There is less sound insulation between the engine and interior, and the sports exhaust is 8 kg lighter.

Also featured as standard is the RS Dynamic package, which provides an enhanced top speed of 174 mph compared to the conventional 155 mph for the RS6 and RS7.

If you purchase the extra RS Dynamic Plus package, you may reach a top speed of 189 miles per hour on the German Autobahn. Thankfully, ceramic brakes are also included for enhanced stopping power.

Both the 2017 Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback Performance have additional standard equipment and new interior trim options than basic models.

Standard equipment includes a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, a head-up display, and a 360-degree video system.

You can also get unique blue accent stitching for the first time, as well as Dinamica (faux Suede in other words) on the gear selector and steering wheel. Additionally, you can choose to have it on the doors and armrests.

At least at Camp Audi, where the brand continues to create incredibly powerful and pricey liftbacked and liftgated vehicles, wagons are not extinct. The good news is that the 2024 RS6 Avant Performance and the 2024 RS7 Sportback Performance, two of the most potent Performance-trim hatchback Audis to date, will once again be available on our shores. While a U.S. release date and price are not yet fixed in stone, the European debut provides hints as to how much more expensive these new five-doors will be when they ultimately arrive.

The ’24 Audi RS Performance version of their 4.0-liter twin turbo V-8 produces slightly more than 621 hp. And 627 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. This is an increase of 30 horsepower and 37 lb-ft over the standard 2023 RS6 Avant and RS7. This is largely due to a boost pressure increase from roughly 35 psi to nearly 38 psi. And the added power helps reduce the zero-to-60-mph sprint time for the fast Audis to just 3.4 seconds. (3.6 seconds was the fastest before these new Performance trims were introduced).

Design

The Performance Avant station wagon and Sportback hatchback retain the standard eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, Audi’s version of the ZF 8HP, despite the increase in power. This design is utilized by a multitude of companies, including Dodge for its SRT engines that produce over 800 horsepower. It’s a robust gearbox, so expect it to handle the Performance models’ power just well.

The standard Quattro all-wheel-drive system employs a mechanical center differential. This differential distributes torque between the front and rear axles with a 40/60 split under normal conditions, but Audi’s traction control system can adjust this to a 70/30 and up to a 15/85 split when necessary. The RS Performance versions’ mechanical center differential is significantly lighter, which is another performance enhancement.

Performance Is Greater Than Force

These Audis’ added power deals with decreased weight. The insulation in the engine compartment, the interior, and the cargo space has been reduced to save around 18 pounds. Audi reports that the RS6 Avant’s curb weight is just over 4,600 pounds and the RS7’s is just over 4,553 pounds as a result of this commendable, albeit insignificant, effort. With the S or Dynamic mode chosen, the engine control software tightens up load changes. While S fine-tunes the gearbox controller for even quicker shift times.

Interior

Inside both Performance RS variants, you’ll find the typical RS design cues, such as “RS” emblems. Sewn into the seat backs and floor mats Alcantara on the steering wheel. And Dinamica microfiber on the shift knob. The seats, however, are upholstered in perforated Valcona leather with Mercato blue contrast stitching. Which is also found on the steering wheel, floor mats, and side of the center console. Ocean Blue seat belts are also exclusive to the RS Performance. And when the front doors are opened, the “RS Performance” insignia illuminates the ground to greet the driver and front passenger.

Audi also allows buyers to order RS design packages with three color options and optional interior features. If that isn’t unique enough. In addition, the door mirrors and the front spoiler, front side flaps, side sill inserts, roof rails, side window trim, and rear diffuser are finished in matte gray. The matte carbon/black optics kit replaces the roof rails and side window trim with a matte black finish. The final option available to RS Performance owners is chrome or black “rings” and model emblems.

Cost And Accessibility

Price and release date for the Audi RS6 2025 Avant Performance and RS7 Sportback Performance in the United States are still being determined. However, Europeans will be able to order theirs beginning on December 8. As previously stated, the RS models are not inexpensive, and the starting price for EU clients is 135,000 Euros. Or around $139,505 at current exchange rates. While this is a decent indicator of how much it will cost in the United States. Exchange rates are not the only factor in determining the final price once the product reaches North American shores.
