Lifequestalliance.com – 2025 Cupra Terramar. Cupra has presented three new vehicles in three new segments as part of its 2025 agenda. The UrbanRebel electric hatchback and the Tavascan electric SUV will be added to the Cupra lineup, and now the Terramar plug-in hybrid SUV has been unveiled as well.

The Terramar is named after the Autódromo de Sitges-Terramar historic racing circuit near the brand’s Barcelona headquarters in Martorell. Cupra design director Jorge Diez describes it as a 4.5-meter-long SUV with ‘Cupra DNA’ and a ‘driver-oriented cockpit’ Thus, it competes with vehicles such as the new Alfa Romeo Tonale and VW Tiguan.

2025 Cupra Terramar Design

The design language departs significantly from past Cupra vehicles influenced by SEAT. The front end of the vehicle is dominated by an imposing front apron with geometric air intakes. And a new triple-diamond headlamp signature. The new UrbanRebel EV provides the rear full-width taillight. With integrated Cupra insignia.

But, the brand has decided to keep the Terramar’s design under wraps. Limiting its unveiling to a brief on-stage appearance during the brand’s live reveal event in Barcelona. It was displayed alongside a brief summary of the company’s whole 2025 lineup. Which included facelifted versions of the new Born electric hatchback. Leon hatch and estate, and Formentor crossover. All of these models will be upgraded with Diez’s new “shark nose” design. Although official photographs are yet unavailable.

Diez states that the Terramar is 99 percent complete. And while the vehicle’s interior is also complete, Cupra has concealed it for the time being.

2025 Cupra Terramar Platform

Cupra has stated that the Terramar would be manufactured in Hungary alongside the Audi Q3. Utilizing a revised version of the MQB chassis designed for next-generation Volkswagen Group plug-in hybrid cars, the brand believes the flagship plug-in version will be capable of 62 miles of pure electric driving. There will also be gasoline-only versions of the Terramar, but Cupra has not yet detailed the engine lineup.

It has been created as an entirely new model and is not meant to replace anything else in the Cupra or SEAT lineup, despite the fact that the smaller, but similarly sized Ateca is nearing the end of its regular seven-year model lifecycle. This was confirmed on stage by SEAT and Cupra CEO Wayne Griffiths, who stated, “This is not the successor to the Cupra Ateca; this is a completely separate vehicle.”

2025 Cupra Terramar News

Cupra has barely established itself in Australia, but it is already preparing for a second wave of items to arrive there. In 2022, the Leon, Formentor, and Ateca will lead the brand, followed by the Born electric car in 2023.

In 2025, the local Cupra lineup will extend to include the gasoline and plug-in hybrid Terramar SUV, the electric Tavascan SUV, and the little (but aggressive) UrbanRebel electric hatchback. They are all crucial components of the brand’s ambition to sell 7,000 vehicles annually in Australia by 2025.

“We won’t reach that level of volume until the second phase of our product offensive,” Cupra’s chief executive officer Wayne Griffiths told the Australian media. Mr. Griffiths claims that the volume of the city-sized UrbanRebel might be the greatest of the three.

Platform

The latest UrbanRebel idea is a tiny electric car with an elevated ride height that is based on the racing-inspired UrbanRebel from 2021. The MEB Small platform, which will also underlie next Skoda and VW city cars, will lie beneath the skin.

It will be propelled by a single electric motor delivering 166kW of power and an unspecified capacity battery pack. The production will occur in Martorell, Spain. Cupra claims the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.9 seconds when power is transferred to the front wheels. In its most efficient configuration, the vehicle is anticipated to have a range of 440 kilometers on a single charge.

The Tavascan is based on the same underpinnings as the Volkswagen ID.4 SUV, but will have a more aggressive appearance in keeping with the Cupra brand’s sporty positioning.

The Tavascan Concept has a range of up to 450 kilometers with its 225kW dual-motor drivetrain and 77kWh lithium-ion battery pack. In Europe, VW ID.4-clad mules have been spotted testing in advance of its 2024 debut.

Engine

The Terramar stands out as the only vehicle with an internal combustion engine. It will be the final new Cupra model to include petrol power and will be available with a choice of petrol-only or plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The Terramar will be longer than the present Cupra Ateca or Formentor at 4.52 meters. Instead, it will likely have dimensions comparable to those of the VW Tiguan and will propel the brand “upmarket to the SUV category’s hottest section.”

Launch Date

2025 Cupra Terramar. In 2024, Cupra is also scheduled to release facelifted versions of the Born, Leon, and Formentor.
