2024 Lexus RX. At the end of the year, the Lexus RX 2024 is rumored to go on sale in the US. The entire RX model series, including the RX 350, RX 350h, RX 450, and RX 550h F Sport, will be overhauled, according to Lexus, and customers can also anticipate some new engines. RX variants had previously been available with two or three rows, but the forthcoming model will only be advertised as having two rows. The three-line version might eventually join the roster, though. In addition to the normal model, the manufacturer will also sell the RX500h F Sport Performance variant, which has a hybrid powertrain and generates 367 horsepower.

2024 Lexus RX Design

Changes to the 2024 Lexus RX are minimal. As far as we know, the upcoming SUV will only have slight revisions front and rear. The headlights will get a more attractive look thanks to new graphics, along with some more subtle details that appear on the grille. Many believe that Lexus may finally reduce the polarization of the spindle grill, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

2024 Lexus RX Interior

While the latter model was offered in two- and three-row configurations, it appears that the new model will only be available in two- and five-seater configurations for now. However, the interior of the RX is more modern, and it comes with woven fabrics, rich ambient lighting, and open-pore wood on the bottom.

The RX500h F Sport Performance will improve the interior’s appearance with more supportive front seats, black interior trim, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and aluminum pedals. Each RX is offered with a large 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, which is parked in the center of the dashboard. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard, but unfortunately, features like navigation and a head-up display are optional.

2024 Lexus RX Engine

The Lexus RX 2024 is an SUV that will be offered with many different powertrains. This entry-level model is powered by a 275-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine backed by an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is an option.

On the other hand, you can get the RX350h Hybrid which combines an electric motor and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 246 horsepower and is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), as well as all-wheel drive. Even more powerful is the RX500h F Sport Performance variant that combines a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with electric power. This engine is capable of producing 367 horsepower, transmitting power to all four wheels. If you’re looking for something a bit more economical, there’s also the RX450h plug-in hybrid that produces 302 horsepower. The same engine is also available with the Toyota RAV4 Prime and Lexus NX450h models.

2024 Lexus RX Release Date And Price

2024 Lexus RX Update

Lexus is preparing for a major model overhaul in the next two to three years and plans to add a new nameplate to its existing lineup. Three electric models will be launched in the US in 2025, but the long-running model will not be discontinued. Instead, most of them will be completely updated and Auto News will have a new report providing early details on what’s to come.

The SUV segment is sure to be even more important for the Japanese luxury automaker and is looking to introduce a new generation of the RX sometime next year. The brand’s best-selling crossover in the United States will use Toyota’s global luxury platform and benefit from an upgraded hybrid powertrain. Most importantly, it will get new Lexus interface infotainment, as well as several improved safety and assistance systems.

The LX will also arrive next year with Toyota GA-F architecture and share many components with the new Toyota Land Cruiser. The focus is on improving ride quality and the broader range of safety systems available. It will be interesting to see what engine the new LX will have.

Last but not least, the redesigned GX will also transition to a GA-F body-on-frame architecture and will be significantly modernized in terms of standard and optional technologies. Lexus will use Toyota’s latest hybrid powertrain to make it more powerful and economical when it goes on sale in 2024, according to the report.

As for the UX crossover, it will be updated in 2024 with the ability to get the Lexus interface infotainment system and other improvements borrowed from the NX. Meanwhile, the all-electric crossover is expected to join ICE and its hybrid sibling next year.

2024 Lexus RX News

It’s been more than seven years since Lexus covered the third generation of the RX at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS 2015). In November 2017, the company introduced the three-row RX L, and then in May 2019 it loaned the car a stylish facelift. Now, the fifth generation of the restyled Lexus RX 2024 replaces the third generation of the 5-seat RX, which is discussed in detail in this article.

The Design

The Lexus RX 2024 brings minor design changes, especially at the front. Lexus designers extended the hood of the RX forward to give it a shark-like nose piece. Thick chrome plating went on the spindle grille, and a completely different new design was introduced. The headlights are more curved, and the new DRL cuts them in an L-shape. While the previous model’s headlight housing and DRL recede toward the grille, the new headlight unit is straighter and slimmer overall.

The vertical hood extension has a small diamond-shaped opening. The vertical side air intakes and the application of chrome at the bottom of the front bumper are also one of the visible changes at the front. Overall, the Lexus RX 2024 has a more dominant and smooth front end than its predecessor. Designs may vary depending on the specific configuration. There will be six classes in the US: Standard, Premium, RX-first Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Handling and RX-first F SPORT Performance.

Elsewhere, a black D-pillar appears on the SUV along with the full-width horizontal LED taillights. Above the LED strip is a thin glossy black strip featuring bold Lexus lettering placed in the center of the tailgate. The rear glass looks a bit more tapered, and this gives the restyled model a more sporty look than its predecessor.

For the first time on an RX, customers will be able to choose the F Sport Performance trim that builds on the familiar F Sport styling package. The new RX Series gives a sporty, performance-focused style. It features a mesh grille, 21-inch wheels, six-piston brake calipers, F Sport panels, a perforated leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, suede interior door trim, aluminum handles, and more.

Inside, the Lexus RX is more modern, with sleeker surfaces and a touch of minimalism in some elements. The most welcome change in the cabin is the introduction of the 14-inch Lexus touchscreen infotainment system. Customers will be able to choose from six interior color options with four styles of decoration according to their level. The colors will be Rioja Red, Macadamia, Pirch, Palomino, Black and Peppercorn, and the decorative patterns will be Dark Graphite Aluminum, Ash Bamboo, Black Open Pore and Black Cascade.

Toyota Motor North America has developed the new 2024 RX infotainment system. Packing five times the processing power of the previous generation, it offers a fast, smartphone-like experience. Cloud-based navigation, OTA updates, standard wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, newly developed virtual assistant, dual microphones, user profiles, digital lock, etc. are some of the key features of the new Lexus Interface infotainment system.

Other features of the Lexus RX 2024 include a head-up display, multi-color lighting and a 1800-watt Mark Levinson PurePlay surround sound system with 21 speakers.

The Lexus RX 2024 packs the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 that debuted in the second generation of the NX. One of the main features of LSS+ 3.0 is Curve Speed Management. When the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is active, the car can maintain the set speed even around corners.

In addition to the LSS+ 3.0, the 2024 RX features an Advanced Park with extended parallel parking posts. While spare parking is nothing new, the Advanced Park 2024 RX also supports forward-facing parking, allowing for front/rear exits. One-touch electronic door release is another safety feature that prevents occupants from opening the door to traffic or cyclists.

Lexus showed off the 2024 RX in metal for select journalists, including Clint Simon, Video Director, Motor1 (via YouTube). He says the new spindle design with the painted top (and edgy shape) looks better in person than in the photos, and that’s neat. The e-Latch door handle may look traditional, but it really isn’t. They do not need to be pulled to open the door. There is a touch panel at the back that releases the door.

Mika Muzio, Managing Editor – Video, Kelly Blue Book, also witnessed the 2024 RX experience (watch it on YouTube). Muzio says the all-new RX’s exterior looks similar to the RX, but more modern. Inside, too, it looks like it should be an RX. The 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system is very easy to use. There is plenty of room for the knee in the back and you feel comfortable sitting there.

Popular YouTuber Doug DeMuro seems to be very impressed with the 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. He says it’s “very easy to use with an intuitive, smartphone-like response.” However, it points out an interesting drawback, which is the lack of a split screen function. This is a missed opportunity, especially given the large size of the touchscreen. In addition, when using a 360-degree camera system, the image displayed on the touch screen rotates by itself. The user can stop or change the angle, but can’t move left, right, up or down with touch input, which is weird.

Dave Humphreys of CompleteCar.ie (via YouTube) says the interior of the Lexus RX 2024 is luxurious, with styling very similar to the latest NX. Lexus used high quality materials and great seating in its all-new model. Humphreys also feel that the rear seats offer plenty of room. Thanks to the extended wheelbase, there is plenty of room for the knee in the rear. The rear seats come very far and provide good support for the thighs. The middle seat, although usually stiffer, is very wide. Rear seat occupants will not feel that the sloping roofline interferes with their space or vision.

The fifth generation Lexus RX uses the GA-K platform that first appeared in the Lexus ES. The new platform provides a low center of gravity and optimal weight distribution. Depending on the configuration, the redesigned SUV is 198 pounds lighter than the previous generation, thanks to improved materials in the mainframe components of the GA-K’s chassis and platform.

Better driving comfort and quietness in the all-new model. Additionally, the wheelbase is 2.36 inches, but because the rear is 2.36 inches shorter, the overall length is the same as the fourth-generation model (192.5 inches). Also new in the fifth generation is the all-new multi-link suspension system at the rear.

We adopt a universal platform to reduce weight, lower floors, reduce overall height, and lower center of gravity. Lexus says the GA-K platform increases the front/rear pair distance, resulting in more legroom for rear passengers. In addition, the cargo area has also increased, but the company did not disclose the amount.

Lexus will offer the fifth generation of the RX in the US in three electric variants: the RX 350h, RX 450h+ and RX 500h. The RX 350h has a hybrid system based on a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine, while the RX500h has a hybrid system based on a newly developed 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that has not been offered in a Lexus before. The RX 450h+ is a plug-in hybrid variant, but Lexus hasn’t released details yet. The 2.5-liter RX 350h petrol engine produces 246 hp and 233 lb-ft. torque, and equipped with CVT. The 0-60 mph trip takes 7.4 seconds, and Lexus expects fuel economy to be 33 mpg.

The RX500h is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, an inverter and an electric motor. The eAxle unit integrates a second electric motor, an inverter and a reduction gearbox. A second engine drives the rear, and the wheels make the RX500h effectively an SUV. The 2024 RX is the first Lexus to be fitted with a high-powered electric motor and electric rear axle.

The RX500h turbocharged petrol engine produces 367 hp and 406 lb-ft. torque. Jack Hollis, Senior Vice President – Vehicle Operations Group, Toyota Motor North America, made an interesting remark while announcing the RX500h, that its torque output exceeded even the Lexus LFA. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph on the top performance variant takes just 5.9 seconds. Lexus estimates a combined fuel economy of 26 mpg in this configuration.

The RX500h delivers faster acceleration and more torque to deliver more power on demand, whether you’re running errands on the highway or driving on scenic mountain roads. It also adopts the same DIRECT4 all-wheel drive technology we talked about earlier on the RZ that integrates powertrain and brake control that can only be found with the Lexus Driving Signature.

The next generation Lexus RX 2024 will face luxury SUVs such as the Acura MDX, Lincoln Nautilus and BMW X5.
