2024 BMW M4. This new BMW M4 CSL has arrived. This is a lightweight, track-focused BMW M4 that will go on sale in July. With pricing starting at £125,900, this rival to the Porsche 911 GT3 and Alfa Romeo Guilia GTam receives lots of colourful enhancements.
2024 BMW M4 Design
There’s a lot more to the new BMW M4 CSL apart from the standard M4 Competition, and plenty of carbon fibre. Up front, the M4 CSL gets a new splitter, carbon fiber hood with exposed carbon stripes and a revamped blade-less grille. There are also new headlights with yellow daytime running lights, like the ones you get on the BMW M5 CS.
The redesigned BMW badge is inspired by the BMW Motorsport badge of the 1970s, and the CSL badge appears on the front bumper. At the rear is the carbon boot lid with duck spoiler, just like the original BMW M3 CSL.
2024 BMW M4 Engine
The new 2024 BMW M4 CSL still gets the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine in succession, as in the M4 competition. However, it now has 40 horsepower more, at 550 horsepower. It will run from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the standard car, and reach a top speed of 191 mph. It’s 11 mph faster than the standard M4 competition.
The CSL will only be available in a rear-wheel drive design, and there will also be no manual gearbox option. It gets an eight-speed automatic with a torque converter, and launch control.
You also get a titanium exhaust tailgate that saves 4.3 kg over the standard setup. It’s louder, too, with different modes for adjusting the volume. There are several improvements to the new BMW CSL suspension on the standard M4. It locks into the ground by 8mm and gets adaptive dampers as standard.
Setup is much faster than a regular BMW M4. There’s a stiffer anti-roll bar, a new aluminum strut at the front, and the rubber bushings at the rear have been replaced with metal ball joints. The CSL is 100kg lighter than the M4 Competition thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibres. To help slow the track, you get carbon ceramic brakes as standard.
2024 BMW M4 Interior
The entry into the new BMW M4 CSL reveals a number of sporty changes, particularly the seats. They are solid carbon buckets with fixed backrests and six-point harness attachment points. They have no heating and no lumbar support and you have to go to your BMW dealer if you want to raise or lower it.
If you want to add luxury, you can choose the comfort booster seat. He gets electrical and heating adjustments. There is no rear seat on the CSL, but there is storage space for some racing helmets. You still get the same infotainment technology as the standard car, but you get a completely different carbon fiber center console without the armrests, saving you 4kg.
