For this new M2, the output is expected to reach 420 HP – A significant improvement over the last M2 model which produced 365 horsepower. Expect better and stronger M2 competitions during the upcoming launch as well.
As for the transmission, there are different options, including a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic. Standard is rear-wheel drive although all-wheel drive will be offered in the competition variant. This is a similar scheme for M4 and M3.
2024 BMW M2 Release Date And Price
The 2024 BMW M2 is supposed to be launched in 2023. After all, the model is slated to be 2024. Production is likely to take place in San Luis Potosi in Mexico, as it is one of the main factories of the brand. Besides, this is where the usual 2 Series coupes are produced. 2024 BMW M2 Update
BMW has officially started the countdown to the world premiere of the latest M car to eliminate electrification. In fact, the M2 G87 will go down in history as the last ICE model to carry “the most powerful letter in the world.” The German luxury brand has been teasing the new M2 for a while and now we’re told the package will come out in October. The sports coupe is scheduled to hit the market in April 2024.
We had the chance to get behind the wheel of an M2 prototype earlier this year to try out the happy tail drive. In fact, BMW plans to sell its smallest M car exclusively with a rear-wheel drive design, which will get the engine’s power via a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission.
As for the engine, the S58 will come from the M4, but don’t expect the same level of power as this will allow the next-generation M2 to deprive the bigger M of sales. The press release doesn’t go into detail about the output, but company officials tell us that the 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbo engine will be called somewhere in the 450-hp region.
BMW says the revamped M2 will provide roughly the same level of performance as the old M2 CS. It will inherit the braking system from the M4 and will be fitted with a carbon fiber roof to reduce weight. For an additional fee, carbon fiber front seats will enhance the cabin’s sporty atmosphere. Incidentally, the interior will have the dashboard and touchscreen in the same curved piece of glass as all BMWs that have the iDrive 8.
The Exterior Of The BMW M2 Protoype 2024
During our time with the prototype, we found that the M2 had the same adaptive dampers as well as 275/35/19 front and 285/30/20 rear tires as the M4. Compared to the lower version of the 2 Series Coupe, the main car will look wider as evidenced by the prominent fenders. Once the M colored livery is removed, the new M2 will look very aggressive and a huge improvement over the M240i.

2024 BMW M2 News
The new generation BMW M2 may be approaching its official launch, but the Bavarian automaker is still working hard on its development, both on and off the track. The lightly camouflaged M2 prototype was discovered by our spy photographer at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, perfecting its chassis and powertrain setup.
The high-performance member of the 2-Series Coupe family made his spy debut a year ago, but since then, he’s ditched most of his disguise, revealing his M-only bag. The new face features a larger, fully exposed bumper, new grille with vertical slots, a prominent bonnet, and a wider set of fenders. Black alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and quad tailpipes complement the changes to the smaller but still sporty M240i. Finally, there will be a selection of optional M Performance parts for even more visual drama.
While the rest of the 2-Series Coupe lineup has a more basic setup in terms of screens, the M2 is expected to get a curved look with the latest BMW 8 OS as evidenced by previous spy shots. Other interior updates are likely to include sports seats, Alcantara upholstery and carbon fiber accents.
Under the M2’s hood will sit a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged 6-liter engine that has been slightly lowered from the M3/M4. According to the latest rumors, the plant could produce between 430 and 450 hp in the more powerful competition model. BMW could also offer a more powerful version with the M xDrive all-wheel drive system if the rumors are to be believed.
Judging from the long development period and the fact that the prototype is gradually getting rid of its camouflage, we expect the BMW M2 to debut in the coming months, before production begins at the end of 2022.
