2023 Mazda CX-50. Mazda has big things in the works for the next several years. The Mazda CX-50 2023 holds a particular position among them. This model will be available next year, and from what we know so far, it will be critical to the corporation in a variety of ways. It will be the first model to utilise the new RWD platform, making it a unique premium vehicle. Mazda will provide vehicles that can compete with names like BMW and Mercedes for the first time.
The new platform will be useful in many ways. In addition to the design, it will also offer several new engine options, including the long-awaited six-cylinder engine. Also, it will have a new automatic transmission, while big things are expected in terms of design as well. Of course, we expect further improvements to Mazda’s already impressive cabin. According to recent reports, the new crossover will debut sometime next year.
2023 Mazda CX-50 Design
When it comes to basic design features, the first thing you should know is that the 2023 Mazda CX-50 won’t have much in common with the popular CX-5 compact crossover. Aside from the similar names, things will be very different.
Of course, the first major difference is the platform. Mazda has been developing new RWD platforms for years, and this must be the first model to drive it if recent reports are to be believed. This architecture will bring significant improvements in many ways. We are talking about a completely different design, which should lead to better driving quality. Moreover, this architecture will open up space for new engine options, new transmissions and many other things. We also get a report on electrification, which makes a lot of sense, given the current situation in the market.
E2023 Mazda CX-50 xterior Design
You may be wondering what kind of SUV will be the new Mazda CX-50 2023. Given that the CX-5 is expected to remain in the show, many believe this could come in a coupe-like form, which is very common these days. At this point, we can’t say for sure, but we can say for sure that the new SUV will be compact. It will be designed to compete with models such as the BMW X3 and X4, regardless of the finish.
We have no doubts that the 2023 Mazda CX-50 will be a beautiful SUV. Mazda has been making beautiful designs for a very long time. Therefore, we are based on the latest version of the popular KODO design language. Of course, we’re counting on a lot of influence from the CX-30, as well as from the 2017 Vision Concept.
2023 Mazda CX-50 Interior
Mazda makes excellent interiors and if we consider that the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is expected to be more luxurious, we assume that the new cabin will look more impressive, with more luxury features. However, we have no doubt that the Japanese manufacturer will stick to its famous philosophy, offering a very simple and elegant interior – something similar to what BMW does, but only way better.
The overall functionality will largely depend on the final look. If we were to look at a coupe-crossover, we would assume that the cargo area would not be too large, while the headroom for the second row could also be compromised. On the other hand, the front seats will certainly provide a large space and a high level of comfort. Mazda is known to offer excellent driving positions in terms of ergonomics, although rear vision has never been a strength of this model. We assume the 2023 Mazda CX-50 will offer something similar.
2023 Mazda CX-50 Engine
The powertrain department will be one of the most exciting things about the new SUV. As mentioned earlier, the new platform will feature an RWD design and offer new drive options. Of course the most interesting is the new six-cylinder petrol engine. It is claimed that this engine will be offered in both turbocharged and naturally aspirated variants. Some sources even talk about the possibility of seeing diesel options in some markets. Another very much anticipated thing about the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is the new transmission. Finally, the old 6-speed automatic transmission will be replaced by a new 8-speed unit.
Finally, we hope to see a hybrid version. From what we know so far, the current 2.5-liter SkyActive will be the base. Of course, you will get help from some electric motors. We expect a setup similar to that found on Toyota models, specifically the RAV4. Despite rumors, the legendary MazdaSpeed division will not be revived.
2023 Mazda CX-50 Release Date And Price
It’s too early to say a more precise date, but from what we can hear, the new 2023 Mazda CX-50 will arrive sometime next year. Regarding the price, it is still too early to estimate.

2023 Mazda CX-50 Update
The Mazda CX-50 rumors resurfaced in July 2020, but these rumors turned out to be only partially true. Yes, the CX-50 was officially confirmed earlier this month, but not as a replacement for the CX-5 as previously thought. Instead, it will be a new addition to the range as a larger and broader alternative to the CX-5, such as the CX-30 that sits above the CX-3.
The first partially revealed CX-50 patent image surfaced online last week, and it didn’t take long for someone with Photoshop skills to turn it into a show. Kolesa’s digital photos are still very unofficial, and should paint an accurate picture of what to expect from the real thing, which will officially debut next month.
Mazda won’t rock the boat in terms of outward appearance because we get the impression it’ll be more in line with the CX-5’s design variations. That’s not necessarily a bad thing because we found the Kodo design language still interesting, although we prefer sedans over SUVs but that’s a matter of taste.
While Mazda is working on a family of rear-wheel drive SUVs with six inline petrol and diesel engines plus a hybrid powertrain, the CX-50 isn’t on that list. The CX-60 belongs to the CX-90 to what Zoom-Zoom refers to as the “large product family” while the CX-50 is part of the “small product family.”
It will be mechanically attached to the Mazda3 and CX-30, which means it will use the same front-wheel drive platform as the available AWD. The 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine appears to provide more vehicle space, and therefore more weight. It can pump out 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft (434 Nm) of torque through both axles provided the engine is running on 93-octane fuel.
After making its official debut in November, the American-only CX-50 will enter production in January 2023 at the new plant Mazda and Toyota are building in Huntsville, Alabama. No word on pricing, but needless to say it’ll get a premium on the CX-5, available from $25,370 for the base 186-horsepower engine with FWD. Just to see the potential price difference, the CX-30 is only $1,260 more than the CX-3.

2023 Mazda CX-50 News
After announcing a new line of SUVs coming in the near future, Mazda has now revealed the first model in its lineup: the 2023 CX-50. Designed to be the most powerful Japanese SUV in its current lineup, the upcoming CX-50 is larger than the CX-5 while sharing the same basic platform as its CX-30 sibling. Speaking to Autoblog, Mazda engineer Dave Coleman said that despite the lower overall height, the new SUV will be taller and wider, have more ground clearance, and the two models mentioned above — even wider than the CX-9. more luxurious.
The larger dimensions also translate to the interior, providing more legroom for passengers as well. Aesthetically, the car is also the sportiest model to date, with a matte black hood decal that complements the glossy black grille surround and more prominent bumpers and lamps.
For power, the CX-50 will have two main engine options at launch. The base model will have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces around 190 horsepower, while the turbocharged model will produce up to 250 horsepower. Both engines use a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system to provide improved off-road capability. Coleman also suggested that eventually there will be a hybrid version of the SUV, although production is still a few years away.
There is currently no pricing information for the Mazda 2023 CX-50, so those interested should look forward to more upcoming updates. Elsewhere in the motoring world, Novatek has given the Ferrari Roma its signature carbon-fiber treatment.
