The first photo is here, and we think the Eletre model looks amazing. While the world premiere takes place in London, the Eletre model will be built in China. Eletre means “return to life” and is pronounced “El-etra”. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming all-electric SUV.
2023 Lotus Eletre Design
For starters, the 2023 Lotus Eletre is a high-riding SUV with unusual style. The aerodynamics are quite impressive, along with the exterior color palette. This model uses the new Lotus Premium platform, designed for vehicles with a wheelbase between 113 and 122 inches. The Eletre SUV has a long wheelbase of 118.9 inches and a model of nearly 201 inches.
This is the size of a BMW X7 SUV. On the other hand, the X7 model offers a longer wheelbase. This is particularly useful because the Eletre model will not offer three rows of seating. The pictures don’t show it, but the Lotus Elite is a pretty big SUV. It combines sporty style with elegant exterior design and looks very modern and distinctive.

Lotus also says that a pair of electric motors will produce up to 600 horsepower. All-wheel drive will be standard. The charger will cost 350 kW more, but will save up to 250 miles in just 20 minutes of charging.

2023 Lotus Eletre Update
Get ready for the biggest, heaviest and heaviest lotus ever; The all-new Eletre SUV takes its maker around the world. The Eletre core is an aluminum and steel construction incorporating an integrated 800V high voltage grid with a custom designed battery pack developed with British Volt that improves cell density and charging efficiency. Along with the battery packed between the front and rear axles, there are a pair of electric motors at either end, giving the Eletre all-wheel drive capability. The engine, control and damper are combined into a single, three-in-one package to improve weight and reduce the overall size of the powertrain.
Lotus is still silent when it comes to exact numbers, but in terms of performance and communication power “from 600 hp”, all three versions will be offered with all-wheel drive. The target specification of the 100 kWh battery has also been confirmed, which will allow a largely depleted battery to be charged in 18 minutes on a 350 kWh charging network. All Eletre models will use air suspension, with active ride height control and an active pneumatic system. If you’ve been expecting an electric SUV stripped to the bone, you’ll probably be disappointed, because with so many of its likes, this is a car with enough anagrams to sink the Scrabble board. There is a light detection and range detection system (LIDAR) to facilitate self-driving capabilities, and an optional Electric Reversing Mirror Display (ERMD) that replaces the outside rearview mirror depending on the Audi e-tron Sportback. All this technology needs to go somewhere, which somewhat explains – but never justifies – why a Lotus looks the size of a Range Rover. They are 5.1 meters long, have a wheelbase of three meters and are 2.2 meters wide if you don’t install luxury electric mirrors (2.1 meters wide if you do). The relatively low ceiling line of 1.6 meters helps to hide some volume. Just. Interestingly, despite talk in media docs about it being lightweight and Colin Chapman’s strict approach to adding lightweight, no weight numbers are available other than that it will weigh “less than two tons.” It would also cost “under £100,000”.
After spending 25 years designing Elise derivatives, Eletre needed a new design language that no other Lotus had. After Emira, this Eletre was a completely different lotus.
