2022 Volkswagen ID.4. Spy pictures of the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Cross have surfaced on the internet. We can tell from the photographs that the forthcoming SUV is wearing minimal camouflage throughout its winter testing. The ID.4 is a high-end SUV that shares a rear-light system with its hatchback brother, the ID.3. The design is appealing, and the same language is employed by the well-known Volkswagen.

According to officials, new SUVs under the German brand MEB will arrive in UK showrooms in early 2022. Meanwhile, we can expect all-electric models such as the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Kona and Kia e-Niro.

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Design

The latest 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 will be used on the same MEB platform as the ID.3 hatchback. The exterior design is attractive and most of the signage is visible from the ID. The Crozz concept, the first time it was presented at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show.

In addition, some design features of the concept were retained. The new ID.4 has the same daytime running lights, LED headlights and a hooded radiator grille. As we can see, the feature remains relatively unchanged, because there is still a slanted windshield and durable black plastic rims for the wheel arches and side skirts.

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Interior

The cockpit of the new 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 has not been revealed. Unfortunately, there are no images available inside that can describe if this model uses the same design as the Volkswagen ID. Cruise model.

However, through the window we can see that the manufacturer has used a new “floating” infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster. The same systems are also found in the ID.3 hatchback. So we can even expect ID.4 to use the same satellite navigation and voice control as ID.3.

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Engine

As already mentioned, the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 model was installed on the new MEB platform. Thanks to it, Volkswagen can offer some engine options. From a trusted source, less expensive variants might include a single rear electric motor, two-wheel drive, and smaller battery packs. However, when choosing high-end models, buyers will receive a second engine in front and all-wheel drive. Volkswagen has not yet officially announced the performance specifications for the ID.4.

In addition, thanks to the MEB architecture, models with this platform can accommodate battery packs from 45 to 77 kWh. This battery capacity is sufficient for a range of 200 to 300 miles. ID. The Crozz model remains a concept and features a pair of electric motors that deliver 302 horsepower and an all-electric range of 500 km (311 miles).

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Release Date And Price

The exact date of the recently spied Volkswagen ID.4 2022 remains a mystery. According to most speculations, this model will debut in early 2022.

The German automaker has a plan to offer more fully electric cars starting in 2022. A mid-size pickup is also possible, and it could build on the recently confirmed ID Space Vizzion concept. The price at this time is still unknown. However, in the opinion of some experts, the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 should not exceed the $45,000 mark.

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Update

This is the Volkswagen ID4 GTX, a new performance-oriented version of the ID4 electric SUV. It’s the first high-performance car to wear the Volkswagen GTX badge, which will be the electric equivalent of today’s gasoline-powered GTI models. It will go on sale later in 2022 and is expected to cost around £45,000.

The ID4 GTX has some minor tweaks for a sporty look. The overall design of the Volkswagen ID4 GTX is similar to that of a regular car, albeit with a few modifications for a sporty look. The ID4 GTX uses a dual drive configuration to produce 299 horsepower

The Volkswagen ID4 GTX uses a twin-motor configuration, which means there is a motor on each axle to give the new car all-wheel drive. The combined power of both engines is 299 horsepower. That’s enough to help the ID4 GTX sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds – almost as fast as the latest VW Golf GTI. However, the new ID4 GTX is limited to a top speed of 112 mph. The Golf GTI can handle 155 mph.

What does Matt think of VW ID4?

The ID4 GTX uses a 77 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 298 miles. It supports 125 kW fast charging, so you’ll be able to increase your vehicle’s range by 186 miles in about 30 minutes. There is a 12-inch infotainment screen and digital display on the GTX. With the Volkswagen ID4 GTX now at the top of the electric SUV lineup, it comes loaded with a bundle.

There is a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen located in the center of the dashboard, along with a digital display right in front of you. It also has VW’s proprietary ID Light technology as standard, which sees a massive LED light spanning the width of the dashboard and will interact with satellite navigation instructions and charging status.

Minor tweaks have also been made to the interior, including red accents and new seats with “GTX” embossed on the headrests. Optional equipment includes an adaptive suspension setup that lets you choose whether you want your ID4 GTX to feel more assertive and sporty on winding back roads, or smoother and more comfortable when driving on the highway. It may also have a front-end display for augmented reality.

Sales of the Volkswagen ID4 GTX will begin later in 2022, and deliveries should follow shortly thereafter. Nothing is known about prices in the UK yet, although they are expected to be brought back north at £45,000; After all, it is the cutting edge ID4 model.

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 News

Volkswagen announced it will apply the GTX branding to its most powerful electric vehicles earlier this month, and has now revealed images of its first chunky new performance line of ID.4 GTX.

Reality is very close to our expectations, with the final car showing a slight shift to distinguish it from the normal ID. Although the bodywork remains unchanged, the GTX features the painted lower cladding and roof rails in gloss black instead of the regular car’s glossy metallic finish. It also has the GTX badge on the tailgate and front fenders and has LED elements of different shapes inside its taillights. A set of 20-inch wheels will be standard, with 21-inch wheels available as an option.

Changes to the cabin take a similar approach. All the keychain is shared with the current car, but there are more red trim, a redesigned instrument cluster, and some subtle GTX branding. Given the bonds Volkswagen wants to make with the current GTI, we were disappointed not to see trim seats.

The ID.4 GTX will feature all-wheel drive thanks to an additional front electric motor. The rear axle has the same 201 horsepower permanent magnet motor as the current ID.4, but is linked to a less powerful asynchronous motor at the front, with both driving their axles through a single reduction unit. Volkswagen claims the system’s maximum power is 295 horsepower, but has not disclosed the torque number. Interestingly, that’s the same power output that Volkswagen is claiming for the non-GTX all-wheel drive version of the ID.4 coming to the US later this year, as well as the Q4 e-tron Quattro. Related, it appears that GTX treatment does not include any additional necrosis.

A major omission from the official launch is the weight of the GTX, although we can safely assume it will make the already large rear-wheel drive version, which weighs 4,698 pounds by our scales.

The announced performance is, frankly, disappointing by sector standards. Volkswagen’s promise of 6.2 seconds from zero to 62 mph translates into GTI-level acceleration, but it appears comfortable by sector standards, meeting our expectations that VW’s fastest electric car will be slower than the cheapest and least powerful Tesla. Top speed will be limited to 112 mph, a number that seems too low by European standards, especially in a country as fond of unlimited motorways as Germany.

The GTX uses the same 77.0 kWh battery pack as the regular ID.4, and Volkswagen claims a range of 298 miles under the generally optimistic WLTP test protocol. That’s only 12 miles less than the number the company references for regular identification. For reference, we drove 190 miles or 82 mpg in the rear-wheel drive version, while testing in very cold conditions. It will support high-speed recharging at speeds up to 125 kW.

Volkswagen has not officially confirmed the GTX for the US, although it has promised to get all-wheel drive versions of the ID.4. This indicates that this car, or its powertrain under a different brand, will eventually cross the Atlantic.
