2022 Porsche Cayenne. It’s pricey, but the 2022 Porsche Cayenne is worth every penny invested in a luxury SUV. No other model can meet the challenge posed by the German automaker. The Cayenne exists to compete with the entry-level premium models, but it also offers high-performance versions that make this SUV one of the most powerful units in the world. In 2022, we’ll see another model in the line-up.
First, you can choose between the standard design and the roof coupe. Both configurations offer six more options: Base, S, E-Hybrid, Turbo, Turbo S E-Hybrid and now GTS. Electrified, the 2022 Porsche Cayenne will be able to produce 670 hp. There are not many vehicles that can exceed this power. Compared to the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the E-Hybrid Turbo S is more luxurious and doubles the price.
Whichever version you choose, it is difficult for other companies to respond to the offer, both with performance and premium features. The main disadvantage is the price, which outperforms all other vehicles in the same class. However, the high-end models are not on the same level as the Lamborghini Urus or the Bentley Bentayga.
2022 Porsche Cayenne Engine
The base engine for the 2022 Porsche Cayenne will remain a 3.0-liter, six-liter turbocharged engine. It can produce 335 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque. This departure can be seen in other mid-size luxury SUVs. However, Porsche will fit the engine with all-wheel drive. Not only that, but all others. The 2.9-liter twin-turbo grinder replaces the previous configuration of the Cayenne S version. The result of installing a twin-turbocharger is an additional 100 hp and a total torque of 405 lb-ft. Interestingly, the fuel economy doesn’t suffer much, as the rate drops by 1 mpg in both city and highway (18/22 mpg compared to 19/23 on the base unit)
Moving up the hierarchy, the 3.0-liter engine reverts to the E-Hybrid. The V6, along with an electric motor, can deliver 455 horsepower and 515 pounds of torque, while still saving some fuel. Combined gas mileage 22 mpg. Things get serious with the 2022 Cayenne Turbo and its V8 plant. There’s also a twin-turbo system to lift the beam to 540 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. That’s not all, because the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid 2022 can take you even further thanks to the electric motor support. This SUV is one of the world’s most powerful SUVs with 670 horsepower and 665 lb-ft of twisting.
The new version of GTS will not top this. The SUV will likely land on the same basic level as the E-Hybrid. However, it will use a V8 engine. All units transmit power via an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission to all four corners of the SUV.
2022 Porsche Cayenne Design
Therefore, each trim level has its own drive configuration. However, each higher version adds more accessories. The full list of GTS features will be available in 2021. We look forward to combining equipment from the S and Turbo versions. But let’s start with the most prominent features of the basic version. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne keeps a 12-inch touch screen and navigation system as standard features. Well, these are just a few of the reasons why an MSRP close to $ 70K. This offer also includes rain-sensing windshield wipers and Apple CarPlay. In addition to the new engine, the S model adds larger wheels and a sporty look. The panoramic sunroof is the feature and accessory that makes the Cayenne S stand out.
E-Hybrid focuses on drive upgrades. Therefore, we have an active suspension manager, which will improve ride and fuel economy. However, there is the Sport Chrono package to enhance its looks. The Turbo version is the most impressive version of the conventional transmission. Air suspension and 21-inch wheels have been added. The package also comes with upscale options, such as ventilated front seats (heating is also included) and the Bose sound system. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid 2022 offers it all with carbon ceramic brakes, torque vectoring and dynamic body control.
2022 Porsche Cayenne Price
The base price of the 2022 Porsche Cayenne will be just under $ 70,000. The main question is where the GTS prototype will land. E-Hybrid and S already exceed $ 80,000. If you want a V8, the price jumps to $ 130k and the GTS could be a lighter version at a lower price. The most expensive offering is an SUV with a 670 hp rating. Not many cars can beat the Turbo S E-Hybrid’s $ 165,000 price. Land Rover Range Rover SVR Autobiography and Lamborghini Urus are worth more than $ 200,000, and the upcoming Ferrari Borosangui will set new standards in the exotic SUV segment.
2022 Porsche Cayenne Update
Porsche engineers have been seen testing a new version of the Cayenne Coupe. The Cayenne Coupe is, as the name suggests, a coupe-like version of the Cayenne designed to handle the high-end versions of the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. It was introduced for 2020 and is currently available in Base, S and Turbo versions.
This new variant is expected to be the Cayenne GTS Coupe, which sits between the S and the Turbo. It is being developed alongside the regular Cayenne GTS and is scheduled to arrive next year as a 2022 model
Porsche’s GTS models target buyers looking for something more sporty than the S, but aren’t quite ready to jump into something tough like the Turbo. Previous generations of the Cayenne introduced the GTS variants, but we haven’t seen them with the current third-generation model yet.
Visibly visible on the prototype in our espionage photos are the new exhaust tips near the center of the rear fascia, which engineers have attempted to conceal by placing counterfeit units in the area where the Cayenne Coupe exhaust tips usually reside. This is a common design theme seen in the GTS variants of the Porsche 718 and 911 sports cars.
The prototype also has enlarged brake rotors, a front fascia similar to that used on the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, and a large active rear spoiler. It is not clear which transmission kit was installed in the tester. A potential bet is an upgraded version of the 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 engine that was installed in the Cayenne S Coupe. There it generates 434hp, but this GTS model should have around 470hp to help bridge the gap with its 541hp turbocharged engine.
Interestingly, there are rumors that Porsche is developing a tougher Cayenne Coupe, like the 718 Cayman GT4 and 911 GT3. The GT5 could be, something Porsche owns as a brand. While such a variant is not a given, we can certainly count on a variant with the 670 hp Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid arriving at some point.
