2022 Porsche 911 GT3. If there are turbochargers, hybrid vehicles, autonomous motors, self-driving and downsizing engines, so what does the current Porsche 911 GT3 do without all of them? Answer: It captures the heart of enthusiasts. In the 911 lineup, the GT3 is the model that provides a direct racing link. While the Carrera and Carrera S have turbochargers and of course the Turbo has a turbocharger, the GT3 continues with a naturally aspirated high-speed engine. It is a car that has been meticulously modernized by a small group of engineers in Weissach.
We caught up with Andreas Brioninger, chief engineer of the GT3, to assemble a prototype for the upcoming GT3 development. The car we drove in was wearing camouflage (as you can see in some of the photos), but a few weeks into our trip, Porsche took off the covers and introduced the car. Design is robust and helps the GT3 stand out from the friendliest 911s day in and day out. Note that the rear spoiler is mounted above, as seen on the McLaren Senna and many racing cars. The wing suspension from above provides an aerodynamic advantage over the wing mounted underneath with conventional turrets.

Time to enter. The seats are cool, lined in microfiber and have little room to maneuver, but they’re not uncomfortably narrow either. The silly 911 automatic gear stick is gone. It was replaced with a gear selector that allows you to choose gears like a real chain gearbox: push to reduce, pull to climb.
Porsche seems to have heard GT3 customers express their preference for console paddle shifters over the steering wheel paddles. While the Preuninger prefers the console gearbox, the GT3 also retains the wheel handles. For true purists, the GT3 will continue to offer a six-speed manual transmission. Besides the short-range transmission, the manual has a gear setting feature that can be switched on or off independently of any other position, but is it fun to hit the gas on the heel and toe without real electronic assistance? ?
The digital instrument displays are also changed in GT3. On the regular 992, the external gauges are hidden by a thick steering wheel rim. In GT3, to make the information easier to read there is a GT setting that brings the most relevant information closer to the tachometer mounted in the middle.
2022 Porsche 911 Gt3 Engine
Porsche is not ready to reveal every detail of the engine. We’re sure no existing GT3 owner will be disappointed, but it will probably be destroyed. In the new GT3, the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated V6 adopts the 991 Speedster’s individual six throttle bodies, giving the engine a fast, immediate and intense response to pedal commands. The power delivery is nicely powerful and smooth all the way to the 9000rpm high red line. Expect over 500 hp and the engine sound is cheery and clear.
The multi-link front suspension is derived from the RSR racing car. From the passenger seat, the new GT3 appears to cornering sharply and body control is exceptional. The brakes appear to be ready for the track. Iron brake rotors are standard, and slightly larger ceramic brakes are optional. This generation is abandoning dynamic engine mounts. Conventional stands have won and are lighter in weight than electronically controlled ones. Speaking of weight, the hood and bonnet are made of carbon fiber and the rear windows, at least in Europe, have thinner glass.
Alongside the regular GT3, Porsche will once again offer a Touring model inspired by the iconic 911 R, which is devoid of a large spoiler but with the same mechanical parts. On this occasion, Porsche will allow street buyers to acquire an automatic transmission, the wonderful PDK of the brand. Previously, the Touring was only equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. We also expect a harder RS model in the future.
The Preuninger team has produced a car that goes against the latest trends. Meanwhile, they create a GT3 that is more pure, aggressive and attractive. We can’t wait to drive it ourselves.

2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Update
What exactly does a Porsche GT3 do? If you were wondering, the miraculous essence of what the “Porsche GT3” itself means would be the 2022 car. Most of all it appears to be the slogan of the Porsche GT division, especially in the past few years after the 992911 debut.
On the GT3, every little detail of the car is touched on, slightly redesigned, and slightly improved. This is what we got from the initial launch of this long-awaited car.
The first thing you notice, of course, is the wing. It might seem like a cheap point to highlight the wing and admire its gigantic glory. But make no mistake, this piece of the GT3’s aerodynamic package is nothing more than a bullet in the Porsche belt. Purely functional.
In fact, the new 2022 GT3 is more of a race car than ever before. Remember the 911 RSR you just won in Sebring? That car shared a lot of wisdom with the new GT3, specifically in suspension form. The GT3 features an all-new front engineering with multi-link suspension components that come directly from the RSR racing car.
Note how the front bumper is more rounded and slimmer than the beautiful 992. Much like the RSR due to this new suspension. The front bumper also loses air intakes that were hidden below. Now these scoops are on the hood and are taking out the hot air from the radiators.
When you look back, the new wing catches your eye. It is unlike what we saw. The horizontal section of the wing actually hangs under the struts on which it is anchored, and appears to mimic the interlocking segment extending from the rear of the body.
Under the hood is the same 4.0-liter falt-six that we all love to the core. You, the customer, can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK to be attached to the engine. However, the powertrain has been modified. Porsche says the engine computer (engine management system) has been reprogrammed, along with changes to the intake and exhaust.
The interior of the GT3 is mostly matched to the less-equipped 992 except for the center console transmission that you get with your PDK. It used to be a small switch set by the drive and vice versa. Now, it’s a full-size manual transmission. If you get the GT3 manually, the stick is a classic H-style transmission, of course.
The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire appears to be the obvious choice for this vehicle. As with the previous GT3, the Cup 2 kit comes with the car, but it’s a bit larger to count the 21-inch 992 spindles.
With any new Porsche GT division, everyone is quick to predict which lap record it will break, how fast it will reach 60 mph and how big the wing will be. As for the lap records, at least we’ll have to wait for the RS. But numbers are just numbers. The GT3 with manual transmission does not need to be rated in any track or subject test, it drives better than any other car. We suspect this person would, too.

If the 992 generation Porsche 911 was the brand’s most accessible model, the 2021 release would change things. The vehicle appears to have been specially designed with even the most German car enthusiast in mind. This is because the high-performance variant features a massive six-cylinder engine, giant rear wing, and a manual transmission option. If you love cars with great appeal (and literal design), next year there won’t be many better options to choose from.
Based on a first look at a sports car prototype, it appears that the first generation 992 GT will satisfy Porsche loyalists. The main reason? It will come with a 4.0-liter, six-cylinder, 4.0-liter engine, according to Car and Driver. Paired with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission or an optional six-speed manual transmission, the car’s power will be capable of producing over 500 hp and a maximum of 9,000 rpm.
This is not the only major mechanical difference between the 911 and the GT3. The tough version will also feature a racing-inspired dual front suspension, a first for a sports car. Although the new GT3 is technically larger than the previous iteration, it weighs 3,100 pounds thanks to some design modifications, a carbon-fiber box, and lighter glass.
In terms of design, the new GT3 looks like a sculptural version of the 992 911 generation. Photos of the prototype presented by Porsche show that it has larger bumpers, a more aerodynamic bonnet and a larger front air hatch. However, the biggest difference is the giant rear spoiler which gives the GT3 a more sporty look. Inside, the brand has made only minor changes. There appears to be a repositioned instrument cluster that is easy to read and a more conventional gear shift knob located in the center console, along with the paddle shifters.
2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Release Date And Price
Porsche has not yet announced a launch date for the new 911 GT3, but we expect it to be in the near future given that the car will be part of the brand’s 2021 model class. Pricing has not been disclosed at the time of writing, but the cost of this model will likely drop somewhere in the playing field for the latest GT3, which started at $ 145,000.
