2022 Nissan Altima. Continue to choose sporty SUVs, and the argument must continue because just a few vehicles enhance all tyres. That is correct, and if there are still those who like sedan body styles, the 2022 Nissan Altima should be of interest. It’s one of the few non-SUV options for people who wish to power every automobile, and it’s equipped with all-wheel drive Canada’s standard tires.
2022 Nissan Altima Design
If you’re taking your Altima outside this holiday season and Nissan kept most of the controls on the dashboard with real functionality, and we think that’s a great thing, the seats are comfortable so your back doesn’t hurt anymore. VW’s Golf Cabin may offer a nice look in photos, but we’re a long way from sorting the dashboard without switches or knobs.
2022 Nissan Altima Exterior And Interior
The current 2022-era Nissan Altima Platinum was released in 2018 with New York International Auto after previewing with your very own Vmotion 2 concept. Like the concept car, the Altima-designed grille is much more prominent and far less aggressive than it is on the Maxima. An additional baffle surrounds the edges that connect to the actual stainless shape, and only joins the grille.
Black sections separate the mini grille from the slanted entry light assembly that collides with the chrome collar, and ends with an arrow-shaped daytime running light. The markings and fog lights for the 2022 Nissan Altima Platinum are located on both sides of the mini fender above the protruding mouth that can pop out of the fender without compromising the actual fender edges. The lines of the hood help make the nose area visible. Much more has fallen than already happened.
If you switch from an old Altima to a new one, you’ll find a much better change in the appearance of the cabin. Of course, the Altima 2022 is not at the fore when it comes to modern decor. However, everything you’d expect to find in it, especially on our high-end Platinum models, is there. One thing you’ll notice is that Nissan has added some wood finishes to the dashboard along with some black and leather console surfaces on the main seats and armrests.
You’ll find yourself turning a few dials to set the temperature for the 2022 Nissan Altima Platinum from the weather control system, and you’ll click the switches below for fan paths and speeds like this. The infotainment screen also has a button and two buttons on either side to let you use your options, and there are more control buttons over the semicircular buttons that people love.
2022 Nissan Altima Engine
Available in the optional 2-liter turbocharged engine, it’s the most important engine under the Altima skin. If you fill it up with high-octane fuel, while base models have 2.5-liter, 16-cylinder, DOHC inline—some only produce 188 horsepower, the 2-liter turbo is great for 248 horsepower. horse power. Nissan calls this car “VC-Turbo” because it works on modern technology that varies greatly in pressure.
Adjustable compression means that by changing the vascular activity of the piston, the compression ratio can be altered to give the vehicle more power if needed. A link in the engine handles millimeter changes that occur in real time. You’ll be free to hear that the Altima is more easily accessible than its nearest straight-acceleration competitor on the highway, although, as we’ve pointed out, it’s not the king of general speed, like anything you’ll find useful when adding pedals to the steel.
2022 Nissan Altima Release Date And Price
The base model is actually a 2022 Nissan Altima Platinum costing $24,100 just before income taxes, with an additional $1,350 AWD version. Unfortunately, you can’t have Turbo AWD, but if you still want to control all four rims and the perks the platinum trim stage offers, you can opt for the larger N/A drive; Combined, this environment will set you back another $33,530 even though our car had an MSRP of $35,180 and an expected price of $37,000 in practice.
2022 Nissan Altima Update
In the restyling, the Nissan Altima remains relatively the same, unless Nissan changes its trim levels. For 2022, Nissan will likely offer a variable-compression turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that is more powerful than the Platinum model. The SR is now higher than the SV in the lineup, placing orders for S, SV, SR, SL and Platinum to match other Nissan vehicles. The base price for the 2022 Altima may not differ much from the previous version’s $25,225 for the Model S, and the range goes as high as $35,025 for platinum. The 2022 Nissan Altima isn’t the sexiest or most attractive family sedan, but it’s competent and available with some funky options. The latter includes all-wheel drive and the only variable engine, which is turbocharged. Unfortunately, Nissan does not allow them to be paired together.
In contrast, the VC-Turbo was reserved for a single model tuned for sporting purposes, and we found it very sporty. While the Altima isn’t quite as attractive or inviting as the Honda Accord or the Mazda6, it does have very comfortable accommodations and a list of popular driver-assist features. The standard four-cylinder engine and gearless transmission don’t make the powertrain inspirational, but the combination is subdued and fuel-efficient. The truth is that the 2022 Altima is good but not great.
What’s new in Altima 2022?
The Altima 2022 lineup is undergoing some minor changes. The 2.0-liter V8 is no longer available on the top-of-the-line Platinum models. In contrast, the VC-Turbo is simply an option in the Sports SR, which also overtakes the previous average SV in a move that alters the Altima’s hierarchy. While this lowers the SV’s starting price by $2,740, it also removes some of the more attractive standard features. Nissan makes up for that with a new $1,800 Premium SV package that includes adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, lane-protection assist, leather-trimmed steering wheel slide controls, ProPilot assist, and a sunroof.
Nissan Altima Models
Powered by a 2.5-liter 188-horsepower inboard engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), the base S model also receives a new driver assistance package, which includes blind spot monitoring and rear-traffic alerts. , automatic emergency rear brake and rear sonar. The Sv, SR and SL are also equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-four, all of which can be done with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The SV starts at $26,325 ($27,725 with AWD), the SR at $27,125 ($28,525 with AWD), and the SL at $30,915 ($32,315 with AWD).
Nissan Altima Competitor
Unlike competitors such as the Accord and Toyota Camry, the Altima does not offer features of either: all-wheel drive and the unique VC-Turbo engine. While the benefits of the latter are hard to quantify, the $1,400 all-wheel drive system could tempt saloon buyers who live in Snowbelt. We’ll skip this option and move to the SR trim level. Along with the sporty suspension and 19-inch alloy wheels that make this family car even more fun to drive, the SR has a number of desirable features including an eight-way driver’s seat, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an upgraded digital system. Scale. kits, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more. We’ll also choose the Premium package that adds heated mirrors, heated front seats, and a sunroof.
Nissan Altima 2022. Engine
The Altima has a 188-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT). The optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces up to 248 horsepower on the premium fuel and also uses a CVT variable transmission. While Nissan touts its innovative variable compression technology, only the 2.5-liter engine can have all-wheel drive. The standard four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive, albeit excellent, predicted acceleration. The engine got noisier the harder we hit the throttle, but the four-cylinder Camry we tested was sometimes too loud.
The VC-Turbo engine makes the Altima faster. Despite its funky turbocharged engine and unusual all-wheel drive system, the Nissan isn’t as fun to drive as the Mazda 6 or nearly any Accord. The Altima SR received a sporty suspension and 19-inch alloy wheels which made it even funnier on winding roads. However, this upgrade also reduces the ride quality found on the regular Altima. The steering system is exactly that of a standard family sedan and adds no effort to imitate the feel of a steering wheel. The Altima brake pedal features linear feedback and quick response to inputs.
Nissan Altima 2022
Altima doesn’t offer the fuel-efficient hybrid or plug-in hybrid model that many of its competitors offer, but the two petrol engines have higher EPA fuel economy ratings and better real-world results. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine has a rating of 28 mpg city and 39 road. However, the more expensive models are rated as low as 25 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the four-wheel drive model can reach 26 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway. The VC-Turbo drives 25 mpg in the city and 34 on the highway. On the fuel-efficient 75-mph highway—part of our comprehensive test regimen—the four-wheel drive Altima hit 41 mpg, while the VC-Turbo version clocked 37 mpg. The more fuel-efficient Accord and Camry got 38 mpg and 45 mpg city, respectively.
Inside, the Altima’s cabin offers a straightforward dashboard with an easy-to-use key fob. Interior materials vary between trim levels, but they are all significant improvements over the previous generation Altima. Our SV test cart has attractive promises and sturdy plastic that attracts little to no attention. The flat steering wheel and the slightly faked carbon fiber are here, especially since there are no paddle shifters or driving modes to choose from on the SV. However, the soft armrests make cruising and sitting in traffic more bearable. The front seats accommodate different body types, but we found the lumbar support to be very aggressive.
The large rear seats are very comfortable with plenty of legroom. We matched six handbags in the trunk of the Altima and a total of 17 bags with the rear seats folded. Those numbers match the Camrys we tested, but both lack 19 Accord bags. Unfortunately, the Nissan rear seat is not completely flat and has to be removed using the handle in the trunk, which is a problem. The Altima has good storage space in the front seats, with narrow door pockets on the inside and a handy tray at the front of the center console.
Nissan Altima Features
Every Altima – except for the base model – has a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. The infotainment interface has a customizable main menu but other than that it has some customization options. While the audio system has useful volume and adjustment knobs, the touchscreens we tested responded slowly to input. Along with the optional integrated navigation system, the Altima’s infotainment system can be upgraded through a Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as a nine-speaker Bose stereo system.
Safety Nissan Altima 2022
The 2022 Altima has been rated a five-star crash test by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and was recently evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). While both Altima have advanced collision warning and automatic emergency braking, the SV and higher have standard blind-spot monitoring, high-beam assist, rear cross-traffic warning, and more. The Nissan Altima will also offer a semi-autonomous driving mode called ProPilot Assist.
Nissan Altima Platinum 2022 Release Date And Price
We recently had the Altima Platinum in our long-term fleet, and this model was available with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and a choice of Nissan’s more powerful 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or the 2.0-liter VC Turbo, which was the world’s first production variable-compression engine.
For 2022, Platinum is only available in 2.5L and all-wheel drive and starts at $35,025. The SR is now the only option if you want a 2.0-liter VC Turbo with 236 horsepower, and it starts at $31,575 with front-wheel drive. The 2022 Nissan Altima will likely be available at dealerships in the United States next year.
