The fuel economy would be, in this case, around 20 mpg city and 28 highway with front wheel drive. All-wheel power, combined with the turbocharging unit, will reduce fuel economy to 19/24 mpg city / highway.
For the hybrid version, Kia has already introduced the EcoDYnamics + hybrid system to the European market. This system combines a diesel engine with a 48-volt electric motor. Kia has yet to confirm the hybrid version for the US. We are expecting a Sportage hybrid sometime from the US but with a petrol engine instead of a diesel unit.
After a recent update, the Sportage has an updated style and Kia will not interfere with the model’s appearance until the next restyling. Kia Sportage 2022 will offer new color options, while other aspects will remain the same.
The latest mid-cycle update brought the usual updates including a new grille, headlights, redesigned taillights, new fenders and an exhaust tip. The headlamp design is derived from the Stinger hatch design, and the model also features a stylish ‘tiger nose’ front grille. Kia has also added a skid plate for the latest update, making its appearance even more solid. The model also offers attractive 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheels.

The EX will use improved upholstery, exclusive 18-inch wheels, a hands-free tailgate and more. There will also be options like sunroof, leather upholstery, wireless charging, Harman Kardon audio system, navigation, ventilated seats, etc.
The advanced SX Turbo version will install 19-inch wheels, larger brakes, sport suspension, dual exhaust setup, etc.

The exterior will never receive luxury
As we’ve already written, the current Sportage model has already gotten some useful updates. For this reason, the Kia Sportage 2022 will primarily arrive as a carryover model. The cool style looks perfect and definitely more aggressive than before. The front and rear fascias have been redesigned, including the headlights and taillights. New turn signals and projection beam fog lights are also available.
Remember, all of these updates are for the 2020 model year. The offer also includes a larger air intake, new skid plates and a new rear bumper. 2022 Sportage gets new driver assistance features
As for the interior, the Kia Sportage 2022 will provide minor updates. This includes two technical updates, such as the infotainment system. Moreover, the Sportage will get plenty of amenities to assist the driver. For starters, the new model comes with Driver Attention Warning and Lane Keeping Assist.
Additionally, Smart Cruise Control is also available. High beam support is available, along with pedestrian detection and forward collision assistance. Besides, there wouldn’t be any kind of change whatsoever. However, the cabin looks new and no further updates are required at the moment.
‘S’ trim level
Kia Sportage 2022 has acquired a new level of equipment. It is an S-shaped mold that fits the LX and EX models. It comes with a unique exterior design and a perfect interior. Kia’s latest crossover will start at $ 24,000. It’s the same price as the current model. The cost of the new Kia Sportage S 2022 is about $ 26,000. The high-end SX Turbo engine is priced around $ 35,000. The 2022 Sportage will hit dealerships in the second half of 2020.

While we wait anxiously for Hyundai to introduce the next-generation Tucson, Kia appears to have begun public road testing of the mechanically related Sportage. Stuck somewhere in South Korea, this prototype had a lot of camouflage on its reworked chassis, indicating that major changes in the appearance department are coming.
In fact, the outfit is so complete that it’s almost impossible to spot some new design details. However, we noted that the prototype had temporary headlights and taillights, while the rear bumper appears to be incomplete. A small change visible on this initial test car is the location of the side mirrors, as they are now located slightly lower on the doors instead of at the base of the A-pillar.
Speaking of which, there’s a small window now next to the A-pillars to replace the inexpensive looking black plastic panel you’ll find on the current Sportage. The front radar for safety and assistance systems looks quite bulky and hopefully won’t be annoying on the production model.
The guy with the camera also took a look inside the cabin, but it was heavily camouflaged. You can easily see that this is a rudimentary test vehicle by looking at the basic looking door cards. These seem to be made exclusively from inexpensive plastic materials that you definitely won’t find in the final version. For this reason, it would be a mistake to judge the quality of the cabin at this time, as it uses inexpensive temporary parts.
Given that the prototype was far from having full production specifications, we have a feeling Kia won’t be launching a fifth-generation Sportage anytime soon. Our friends at The Korean Car Blog say that the revamped compact crossover has been delayed and that it will take some time before it gets going.
While the pattern is still a mystery at the moment, we hope to learn about the oily parts in the next few weeks or months. That’s because Hyundai is on the verge of introducing the new Tucson where Sportage will likely inherit the most hardware. Both will ride on a more sophisticated platform geared to lower a bit of weight and unleash the potential for a hybrid powertrain.
