2022 Kia EV6. Production of the EV6 Kia has been confirmed. It is Kia’s first specially built hybrid car and all-electric SUV to replace Volkswagen ID4 and BMW iX3. It is estimated that the EV6 would cost more than £35,000 when it arrives in showrooms before 2022. Kia has unveiled a new set of teaser images of the car, giving you an idea of what the car will look like when it is fully revealed in the coming months.
2022 Kia EV6 Design
These inconveniences don’t reveal much about the 2022 Kia EV6, although the angular headlight design stands out through the gloom that surrounds an extremely narrow entrance under the hood. It matches the heavily camouflaged spy photos already seen from the EV6, so you get a basic idea of the car’s overall profile.
A teaser image shows the new Kia EV6’s sloping roof line and coupe-like side profile, while another shows the new vehicle badge and slim, curved LED brake light.
The EV6 appears to feature narrow brake lights that extend across the width of the rear. The footage of the Spyshots or the EV6 prototype being tested shows that the final vehicle will come with large alloy wheels that appear to be designed to cut off the air as efficiently as possible.
The coupe-like roof line of the EV6 is visible from one side. This flat-wheel style is common to many electric cars and helps them gain the most miles from the electric range by reducing the drag produced by the wheels when turning.
2022 Kia EV6 Interior
Expect the EV6 to have a more attractive cabin than the Niro. There are no images of the Kia EV6 yet, so some guesswork is needed at this point. It will be Kia’s flagship SUV though, so expect it to have all the brand’s bells and whistles and look a lot more futuristic than the cabin found on the current Kia Niro SUV (shown above).
It will be packed with premium quality materials that are soft to the touch, and you can bet your home has a huge touchscreen or two there. However, aft headroom can be affected as a result of the sloping roof line.
2022 Kia EV6 Engine
Expect the EV6 to have a range of around 300 miles. The Kia EV6 will be built from a group of parts specially developed for electric cars by Kia and Hyundai, some of which will appear in the recently unveiled Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The Kia EV6 is expected to offer around 300 miles of range between charges with an 80% consistent charge time under 20 minutes when connected to a 100kW general fast charger. Expect a full charge with an 11 kW charging station that takes around 6 hours.
2022 Kia EV6 Release Date And Price
Kia has confirmed that the 2022 Kia EV6 will be fully revealed in the first half of 2021 and should go on sale shortly thereafter. Kia’s current electric vehicle, the e-Niro, costs around £ 33,000, but this is expected to outpace that at a price of £ 35,000.
2022 Kia EV6 Update
Kia says it will have 11 new electric vehicles by 2026. Of those 11 new electric vehicles, seven will be built on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP (Electric Vehicle Platform) architecture, and this will be the first to arrive. The Kia EV6, which we expect to be the Kia version of the recently unveiled Hyundai Ioniq 5, will be in full view by the end of the month and will join the Soul EV and Niro EV in the Korean carmaker’s current power line.
Kia says its upcoming electric vehicles will follow a simple numbered naming scheme. The name of each vehicle will begin with the letter “EV” and will follow a number. Hyundai takes a similar approach by using the Ioniq sub-brand for its electric vehicles and tracking it with a number. The Ioniq 5 will go on sale in the fall, and the Ioniq 6 sedan and Ioniq 7 SUV are scheduled to arrive in 2022 and 2024.

We expect the EV6 to share a 77.4 kWh battery with the Ioniq 5 at an operating voltage of 800 volts. The single electric motor to power the rear wheels should be the standard option on Kia. The similarly equipped Ioniq 5s produces 215 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque in this configuration. A twin-engine all-wheel drive setup should be optional, with 302 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque. Hyundai is rated up to 300 miles on the WLTP rating system, but the Environmental Protection Agency’s ratings are usually lower. We can expect similar numbers to the EV6.
The EV6 also looks boldly designed, as does Hyundai’s new EV. It’s a crossover between a hatchback and a four-door crossover and a futuristic look. The interesting-looking roof line flows into a spoiler that matches the slim taillights that slide across the quarter panel. You’ll have to get used to this style because Kia says it is “the embodiment” of its new design language.
We’ll know more about the new Kia EV by the end of the month, and it should go on sale alongside the 2022 Hyundai Ionic 5 this fall, starting at $ 45,000. Kia predicts that by 2030, plug-in and plug-in hybrid cars will account for 40 percent of its total sales.
2022 Kia EV6 News
On Monday, Kia released a handful of dark teasers for the EV6 crossover. The model, which will arrive at dealerships later this year, will be the first for the Korean brand on the E-GMP Global Platform.
Judging from these early images, the EV6 will join Ioniq 5, which shares the same platform, to broaden the definition of “crossover”. It has a very low profile, with a tapered roof line, coupe-like, and large rear thighs. A battery-powered electric platform allows engineers to propel the wheels to the edges of the shape, increasing stability and interior space.
Up front are slender headlights, with a segmented LED “eyeliner” that extends slightly beyond the main unit. There is a dark panel between the lights, changing the brand’s existing Tiger Grille design. Sitting at the front and center of the bonnet is the shell-shaped redesigned Kia logo.
However, it is the tail of the EV6 that interests us most. A full-width taillight integrates with a matching spoiler for a look unlike anything else on the market. The light features dozens of segmented LED control markings, providing a unique twist to the K5 sedan’s nighttime profile. The exterior corners of the taillights extend down and around the side of the EV6 to the rear wheel arches. Immediately below it, successive boom turn signals curve toward the center of the tailgate.
Kia has yet to release any technical specifications for the EV6. However, the recently revealed Ioniq 5 should provide plenty of clues. Hyundai’s sister car comes with rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, and it produces between 215 and 302 horsepower and 446 lb. Thanks to its 800-volt architecture, the E-GMP platform can add 62 miles (100 km) of range in less than five minutes of charging. Recharging speed can reach 10 to 80 percent to 18 minutes. We expect the range to be around 300 miles (483 km), depending on setup.
Like the Ioniq 5, the EV6 will introduce a new sub-brand in Kia. Vehicles with an EV prefix will be, well, EV. The number marks EV6’s place in the lineup; Slightly larger than the K5, but smaller than the K8 in the Korean market.
The 2022 Kia EV6 will debut later this month. We hope to reach Kia dealerships in North America this fall.
