While it comes in two strengths, 246 or 296 horsepower, and all-wheel drive is standard, it’s not particularly fuel efficient. Additionally, Jaguar’s heavy weight is detrimental to acceleration times compared to competitors such as the BMW X1 and Volvo XC40. However, if a small rear seat and high price aren’t the deciding factors, the 2022 E-Pace can turn heads and make you smile.
Jaguar refreshes the 2022 E-Pace range with a new design inside and out, as well as many new features available. Engine, transmission and performance
As with most crossovers in this class, the E-Pace has a four-cylinder turbocharged powertrain. The P250 produces 246 horsepower and the P300 adds a mild hybrid system and another 50 horsepower for a total of 296. Both engines use a nine-speed automatic transmission which took a long time to shift based on our preferences. At least the exhaust makes a roaring sound at high revs.
The P250 we tested was heavier than some of the four-turbo competitors, which contributed to its slower acceleration times. While every E-Pace has four-wheel drive and ample traction, only the P300 Sport has torque vectoring technology to improve handling. The P250 was particularly comfortable, with its soft shock absorbers absorbing road imperfections and isolating occupants. While its 20-inch wheels hit rough roads, the ride quality kept the company’s mission of luxury alive.
At first, the E-Pace felt uneasy when driven enthusiastically. However, we finally found his loose body movements were downright funny during our comparison test with the BMW X2 and Volvo XC40. Sure, the Jaguar is still last in this test, but it was unanimously named the most fun to drive. Her light and precise steering was partly responsible for this address. The interior of the E-Pace surrounds the driver with a dash-slant design that places all controls close to the driver’s hands. Favorite parts of the interior include silver trim throughout the cabin and optional upholstered leather seats in 18 modes. Jaguar E-Pace 2022 Design
Jaguar hasn’t changed much in the look of the E-Pace. It has a very similar front bumper and grille design, although there is a new plastic frame for both air intakes under the car’s headlights. The lights themselves come with internal LEDs, so you never have to worry about changing burnt out bulbs again.
The new E-Pace looks almost identical to the outgoing model from the side and rear. But, take a closer look and you’ll see a new silver trim in front of the front doors and a redesigned plastic grille between the exhaust pipes at the rear. However, you can get an optional black package that gives the E-Pace some darker badging instead of the car’s standard chrome.
Jaguar E-Pace 2022 Engines
The new Jaguar E-Pace comes with a choice of 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The range starts with the 163-horsepower diesel model with a front-wheel drive, six-speed manual gearbox that Jaguar says will return 46.9 mpg. What follows is a mild hybrid version of the same 163-horsepower motor that uses a small electric motor to give the engine a boost when revving to help you save fuel. This model has a nine-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive and will return 44.3 mpg.

There’s also a 204-horsepower version of this 2.0-liter diesel with the same gearbox and all-wheel drive that should hit 43.9 mpg, again, according to Jaguar. There are several petrol cars to choose from, including two 2.0-liter models with either 200 hp or 249 hp. The first will accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.5 seconds, while the second will take seven seconds.
Even faster is the 300-horsepower petrol version that will go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. Every E-Pace petrol engine comes with all-wheel drive, a nine-speed automatic gearbox and a mild hybrid system as standard.
2022 Jaguar E-Pace Hybrid
There is also a new hybrid version of the Jaguar E-Pace SUV called the P300e. This combines a 200 horsepower 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol engine that powers the front wheels and a 109 horsepower electric motor that powers the rear wheels. This version can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds and can drive up to 34 miles using only electric power thanks to its 15 kWh battery. Unlike other versions of the E-Pace, the plug-in hybrid has an eight-speed automatic gearbox, instead of a nine.
Charging this model from a vacuum to 80% of its capacity takes about half an hour with a 32 kW charger, while a 7 kW charger takes less than an hour and a half to reach 80% of a charge when empty. A 2.3 kW charger, such as a household wall box, will take five hours to charge the new E-Pace from a vacuum to 80%.
