2022 Fiat 500X. The 500X crossover will receive more upgrades from the Italian carmaker. This type is closely linked to the Jeep Renegade, and both are manufactured at the same plant. The 2022 Fiat 500X is an eye-catching secondary crossover. To be honest, this vehicle is more than just a hatchback. The Fiat 500X, on the other hand, is referred as as a crossover due to its increased ground clearance.
This little model has been around for five years. The 2019 version received minor updates and Fiat will continue this tradition in 2022. We can expect minor changes in terms of styling and design. The interior will receive minor updates in the technology department. Under the hood, things will stay the same. Basically, we can say that the 2022 500X is a pending order.
2022 Fiat 500X Design
As you probably remember, the current model came with some modifications. The modified taillights and headlights were perhaps the most notable of the recent changes. The 2022 Fiat 500X will not offer major changes or upgrades. The new paradigm is practically something left. The Italian automaker offers 12 different exterior paints and many standard and optional features. Customers can choose between standard 16-inch alloy wheels or optional 17- and 18-inch wheels.
As we already wrote, the 500X is a secondary crossover. However, this model is closer to a hatchback. Thanks to the additional ground clearance, this model is classified as a crossover. Interestingly enough, the Fiat 500X will travel on the current platform. This architecture has been around since 2005. The 2022 model will undergo only minor changes. Includes sharper stripes on the hood and side doors.
2022 Fiat 500X Interior
The 2019 model has arrived with a new instrument cluster and a 3.5-inch infotainment screen. The same group exists again and is still representative. The steering wheel is also relatively new, so there will be no change in this class. The only updates will happen in the technology department. The new 2022 Fiat 500X will get a better safety rating and new high-tech features.
This includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 7-inch touch screen with audio streaming, voice recognition and Bluetooth. When it comes to safety, this intersection will feature Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring. In addition, the rest of the cabin has not changed. Although there are three headrests, we recommend two passengers in the second row.
2022 Fiat 500X Engine
Under the hood, things will remain. The 2022 Fiat 500X will offer the same engine that was introduced last year. The MultiAir III 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine comes with a turbocharger. This unit produces 177 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. A front-wheel drive configuration comes standard.
All trim levels offer an optional all-wheel drive configuration. However, markets like the UK will have many streaming options. Customers can choose between petrol and diesel units. Returning to the 1.3-liter engine, this unit is available with a new almost 9-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Fiat 500X Release Date And Price
We have to admit that this secondary crossover looks cute and pretty. It is available in many trim levels and provides good performance. However, the 2022 Fiat 500X never stood a chance against competitors like the Mazda CX-5 or Honda CR-V.
Besides, the price is not affordable for everyone. Pricing for the new 2022 Fiat 500X will start at $22,000 and the high-end model will cost $31,000. On the other hand, the Fiat 500X is a better option than the two remaining Fiat 500 models. This crossover will go on sale this fall.

2022 Fiat 500X Update
Although it shares its basics with the boxy Jeep Renegade, the 2021 Fiat 500X goes its own way with charming retro styling and a focus on the road. All models come with a standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is good enough to weather a Milan snowstorm. Inside, the 500X also offers a modern interior design, although cargo space is limited and back-seat passengers may find space lacking. However, the Fiat’s starting price is high for the class, and competitors such as Hyundai Kona and Kia Soul offer better value for money.
The 500X undergoes minor changes for 2021. The base Pop and mid-range cruisers receive updated seat upholstery and dashboard trim, while the Sport model can now be ordered with the Sport Value Package. The optional package adds a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch wheels, a Beats stereo system, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, interior navigation, and heated front seats.
There is not much difference between the 500X trim levels. The Trekking Plus comes with some more features than the Trekking and Sport, but these are optional on lower models. Since style is such an important part of this crossover’s allure, we’ll choose the sporty model. The 19-inch wheels available on the Sport give the 500X a premium look, and the interior details are elegant and well worth the cost compared to the standard Touring model. The new Sports Value package is a good deal at $700, so we’ll include it on our order form as well.
Engine, transmission and performance
All Fiat 500X models come with a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 177 horsepower. A nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. The all-wheel drive system has three driver-selectable settings to optimize traction in all conditions. All models come with 17-inch alloy wheels except the Sport, which has standard 18-inch wheels (optional on both Trekking models) and 19-inch wheels are available. Regardless of trim level, the 500X isn’t the fastest crossover in its class, nor is it the most fun to drive. The Fiat’s suspension is comfortable on the road, but loses its cool on winding back roads. If you’re looking for a more enjoyable SUV, we suggest the Kona or the Mazda CX-30.
Fuel economy and MPG in the real world
Fuel economy is fair for a half-liter crossover, with the Fiat 500X rated by the EPA at 24 mpg city/30 mpg highway.
Interior, comfort and cargo
Passenger space is tight on the 500X and the quality of its interior materials is far from best in class. On the bright side, the layout of its controls is good, and the riding position needs to accommodate a variety of body shapes and sizes. It is also an attractive cabin, especially the Sport version with its improved seats and elegant design details. It’ll be able to fit a few bags of groceries in the Fiat 500X, but cargo capacity is low, even for a compact SUV, with just 14 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 32 cubic feet when folded.
A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is standard on all Fiat 500X vehicles. Trekking Plus also includes a factory navigation system; It is optional for excursions and sports. An upgraded Beats audio system is optional on all models except the base Pop. Each 500X has two USB charging ports on the bottom of the center console.
Driver assistance and safety features
By choosing the Advanced Driver Assistance Group package, a host of driver assistance features have been added, such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and automatic high beams. This package is optional on Trekking, Sport and Trekking Plus models. For more information about the 500X’s crash test results, visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key security features include:
Warranty and maintenance coverage
Fiat offers solid limited warranty coverage, but the 500X’s powertrain warranty is weak. Most competitors offer five years/100,000 miles of coverage, while Hyundai Kona leads the class with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

2022 Fiat 500X News
Fiat will likely integrate the 500X and 500L models for its next generation, which should use the same basics as the newly launched 500 electric.
The SUV and MPV versions of the current 500 have been on sale since 2014 and 2012, respectively. The 500X has been a great performer for Fiat, with between 75,000 and 105,000 units traded in Europe alone over the past five years. However, while the 500L had 95,000 sales in 2014, its numbers fell to about 36,000 units last year as customers shifted away from minivans to crossovers and SUVs. The seven-seater is still sold in Italy as the 500L Wagon, but not in key markets like the UK, France or Germany.
The new Fiat Panda 2022 will rank below the 500 in a new look line
In the car’s normal life cycles, the 500L is a late replacement and the new 500X will arrive in 2021. But Fiat president Olivier François told Auto Express that when the new generation arrives, it’s likely to be a single model. ‘500XL’, instead of two cars.
“The L is a particularly good body, with high wheels, to add the batteries,” he said. “Family transportation is also a good candidate for electric, because it involves a lot of city driving, many stops and exits, school and work occupations. But at the same time, it’s not an aid, UV rays; it’s a pickup truck, and that kind of car has become Less trendy now.
“We need to think about the next generation with the same consumer focus that makes a lot of sense in an all-electric version, with a chassis that is obviously more convenient and modern. We think maybe a combination of X and L is the way to go, at the end of the day. But that’s not For the near future, and when I say soon, I certainly don’t mean the end of this year.”
Our illustrations show what the 500 XL might look like, based on the premise that it would stay closer to the 500X’s best-selling design than the MPV. We expect it to use the latest front-end design of the 500, but the extended wheelbase will free up more space and allow a larger battery to be stowed for a larger range car. Inside, it could be the second model that integrates the 500 Electric’s infotainment and connectivity systems.
At first glance, the disappearance of the larger and more practical 500 liters could cause trouble for Fiat. But the brand also hopes to quickly expand its family, including a full-size SUV that rivals the Nissan Qashqai, which can meet the needs of most existing 500-liter customers.
Before the new model arrives, expect the 500X and 500L to get the same mild hybrid powertrains already featured on the current 500 and Panda. This technology enhancement will help both models pass the last 18 months before replacement.
