2022 C8 Corvette Z06. The Chevrolet Corvette, also known as the C8, is the eighth generation of the Corvette sports car manufactured, manufactured and produced by the American company Chevrolet.
After several prototypes, it is the first mid-engine Corvette since the model was first produced in 1953, in contrast to the traditional front-engine design found on all other Corvette models.
The C8 was first announced in early 2019 and the coupe officially debuted a few months later. 2022 C8 Corvette Z06 Engine
The 2020 Corvette is expected to use a V8 turbo engine based on the Blackwing engine. The Cadillac Blackwing V8 is a GM DOHC V8 biturbo engine for use in Cadillac vehicles. It’s a clean, laminate design, with an 86mm bore cylinder and 131.2 hp per liter.
The new C8 engine delivers more than 800 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque for ample performance and power. If true, those specifications would be a major improvement over the previous model, the C7. The C7 Z06 only had 650 horsepower and 650 pounds of torque, with the new C8 improving by 50 either way.
The Z06 should have a flat crank, just like a Ferrari V8. It should be able to accelerate between 8,500 and 9,500 rpm and, as we said, generate more than 600 horsepower, with an expected hit of over 800.
It will work on an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that controls the rear wheels.
The shift to a mid-engine increases traction over the newer model, which means the Corvette can allow Chevrolet to better use its massive engines in any essential competition.

The C8 will have a completely new exterior look, with a new build in operation, with wider rubber, durable brakes, recalibrated suspension, and improved power train cooling mechanisms for better performance. 2022 C8 Corvette Z06 Update
Here’s some startling info to change the Corvette C8 rumors. Muscle Cars & Trucks has dropped a bomb on recent stories about the futuristic Z06. We previously reported that you’re getting a Blackwing DOHC V8 with a twin-turbocharger and 800 hp, which isn’t really surprising as it follows the general C8 evolution rumors we’ve been hearing about for over a year. The latest MC&T scooper backs up this info, but that Vette’s superstar nickname is supposedly not the Z06. Instead, it is said to be the best ZR1.
It’s just a rumor at the moment. MC&T identifies only its “own sources” as the basis for the claim and it is clear that it has not been addressed by the GM. Returning to our list of rumors prior to the C8 unveiling, we find notes of two different DOHC V8s for the C8 displacing 4.2 liters and 5.5 liters. The car was supposed to launch with the smaller mill, then evolve into the larger engine on the Z06, and finally to be completed with the supposed 1,000-hp hybrid monster, which combines the 5.5-liter grinder and electric power.
Now that the C8 is out, we know that it was not released with a DOHC mill, but rather a modified version of the C7’s 6.2-liter V8, which was also popular before its reveal. If the DOHC’s two different engine sizes are accurate, it stands to reason that logic dictates that the Z06 gets a 4.2-liter engine and a 5.5-liter ZR1. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to support MC&T’s claim that the Z06 could get a 4.2L engine in the 650hp range, and the ZR1 would get a 5.5L twin-turbo engine for 800hp. It will also fit into Chevrolet’s previous formula of being the Z06 rather than a race-oriented car, with the ZR1 retaining the mantle as the more powerful Corvette.
This is the base card in this sea of Z-badges. We know GM has the name Zora on file. We also know that the camouflaged C8 prototype in New York had little pictures of Zora. The mid-engine Corvette was the dream of the Zora Arcos-Duntov, so if ever there was time to change the hierarchy of the flagship Vette models, it is now. Starting with the ZR1, the Corvette could falsely be the 1,000-hp American supercar.
As before with the unveiling of the C8, we have to be patient for a while. However, the decals have shivered, and we think it’s worth the wait.
Regarded as the ultimate American sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette has built a reputation over the years as a vehicle that outperforms the weight class. While the modest entry-level models are by no means powerless, the more focused Z06 and ZR1 are the ones that truly take you to the very best in the world. GM doesn’t seem to have changed that approach to the C8 generation, as a new video posted on Facebook shows the 2022 C8 Corvette Z06 mule test with a very strange metal.
Facebook user Randy Herman uploaded a video to his page this afternoon showing what appears to be a test prototype of the C8 Z06 alongside the Porsche GT2 RS and Ferrari 458. European sports cars are enormous (and expensive) capabilities. It could give us a better idea of the intentions of the Z06.
Let’s start with Ferrari. It’s no secret at this point that the C8 Z06 will feature a flat-cranked V8 engine derived from the C8.R engine, as you hear in the short clip. This road is not much different from the one in Maranello. When the 458 Speciale debuted, its impressive 4.5-liter engine became the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever produced, with 597 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. Rumors circulated a while ago that Chevrolet wanted this crown from the Italians, and the presence of the Ferrari 458 only highlights this company.
However, the new Corvette Z06 will never count on engine performance alone. Instead, the new mid-engine sports car is ready to be a supercar on the race track. If you were to attack a track, it would be difficult to find a better car than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Slightly modified version of the car that was considered an MR recently set a lap record for the Nordschleife, setting a totally fiendishly 6: 40.3 time. While we wouldn’t say the GM is looking for first place around the Green Hell, they clearly expect the C8 Z06 to keep up with the 700-horsepower Blitzkrieg Beetle.
As we start seeing more of these C8 Z06 prototypes in the wild, the level of enthusiasm we have for the car continues to grow. Just today a new batch of spy photos was shared on the blog of the Corvette Z06 C8 2022 with an impressive fixed rear spoiler. This wing, which is much smaller than the one on the C8.R, differs from the car’s active aerodynamic system for which GM recently patented it. As we provide an exclusive report on the Active Aerodynamic System, as well as accurately describing the Z06’s tires and dimensions, rest assured that the active aerodynamics of the C8 Corvette Z06 is yet to come.
This may indicate that Z06 customers will be able to choose the level of track performance that best suits their needs. Chevrolet made a bold statement when they brought the Corvette to a mid-engine platform, and we feel like they’re just starting out with what the Corvette C8 really is capable of.
